Successful test of a ballistic missile interceptor was conducted yesterday in Orissa as part of its endeavor to create a shield against incoming enemy missiles. The indigenous interceptor 'Ballistic Missile Defence System' was fired from Wheeler Island off the Orissa coast in Bhadrak district.
It successfully destroyed an incoming ballistic missile launched from Chandipur 70 kms far from wheeler island and 5 minutes prior to the firing of the interceptor. The process was tracked using various radars and sensors and the performance was satisfactory in all aspects. As per the high ranked officer present there the hit was successful and it destroyed the target into pieces.
I hope you all remember the recent failures of DRDO in launching ballistic missiles, repeatedly one after another, last year. So finally, when we could not come out with a missile to attack with, we have come out with an interceptor to protect the country from other's missiles.
Cheers to Indian Defense.. :)
