On Sachin becoming a Rajya Sabha member

Iconic cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, well known as a batsman and a good person in himself across the globe, was recently nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Congress-led UPA government.

In each session of parliament, the President of India nominates few set of people for the Rajya Sabha from the fields of art, cinema etc. Rajya Sabha member is a very honorable post and people appointed for this have always been real deserving people.

After Sachin's nomination as a RS member, there has been a number of comments from well knows celebrities, politicians and socialists across the country. Some appraised this nomination but some were disappointed with this.

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray even called it as the “Congress’s dirtiest play ever.” In his words this event is the real dirty picture directed by Congress-led UPA government. On the contrary to this, another popular celebrity from Maharashtra, the famous singer Lata Mangeshkar said that the ace cricketer will be a good parliamentarian provided he gets time for it. In her words, "I am very happy that Sachin is nominated for Rajya Sabha. Sachin is a very sincere, wise and good human being. I am sure he will make a name in parliament, the way he did in cricket. He truly deserves this but I don't know how will he split his time between cricket and parliament. Sachin is a busy person. There is a lot of international cricket happening and it will be a tough task for him to attend parliament sessions regularly. I don't know how he is going to manage."

Amitabh Bachchan, the iconic Bollywood actor popular as Big B, Saturday expressed happiness at the recent nomination of actress Rekha and cricket legend Sachin Tendulakar to the Rajya Sabha, while on the other hand another famous actor Sanjay Dutt was unhappy with Sachin becoming a parliamentarian. In his words,"It is an honour to be in the Rajya sabha. I am a fan of Sachin. He is the pride and jewel of India. But, I am not happy that he is a Rajya Sabha member. He should have been the way he is."

Sachin is undoubtedly a great personality who has made India proud a number of times earlier and ever recently. But politics is a dirty mire and Sachin, a person known for his simplicity and honesty(on field and off filed), probably that is the reason why some of the well known faces are unhappy with his entrance into the politics.

Is Apple Inc moving towards mediocrity?

After Steve Jobs left the helm of Apple Inc in October 2011, the leadership of the most glorious IT giant came into the hands of Tim Cook. He was then found the best proven and competent for the post by the Apple Boards of Directors. But with time passing by, Apple's reputation and its product quality is getting deteriorated leaving the company on the coast to decelerate further.

Analysts, investors and other pundits around the world are discussing with one another for this quarter result of iPhone maker to be an indication of Apple's dooming towards mediocrity. Some even said that, Apple's board should have found another charismatic leader to replace Jobs instead of Tim Cook.

Is a company well known for its excellence with product quality and innovation is really inching towards ordinariness?

Without Jobs's charisma, design vision and ability to take big risks, Apple and its products and lacking ingenuity and innovation. Without a charismatic person like Jobs, company is most probable to end like a rudderless organization that will have a long, painful decline. To remind you all, Sony has been one such organization in past few years, which was worth more than $120 billion in 2000 and is now valued at $16.4 billion.

Google vs Oracle : License to use Java in Android devices

Google Inc, running more than 300 million Android mobile devices worldwide, denied today, at a Federal court in San Francisco, stealing Oracle Corp' technology, whereas Oracle, the largest maker of database software, is seeking $1 billion in damages and a court order blocking Google from distributing Android unless it takes a license.

Google has today denied for the need of licensing Java technology, but as per the earlier emails between Google and Oracle's officials, oogle executives knew the company had to license Java technology and then tried to hide evidence of Java code in Android.

Not only this, Oracle also alleges that Google infringed two Java patents that a court-appointed expert estimated are worth $2.8 million in damages.

In the first phase of the case trial, court will deal with allegations of copyright infringement. Phase two will address patent claims. If jurors find that Oracle's intellectual property was infringed, they will decide in a third phase whether the company is entitled to damages.

Google, operator of the biggest search engine, relies on Android, the most popular US smartphone operating system, to compete with Apple Inc in the mobile-phone market and to cut its dependence on traditional Web-search advertising. So apart from Google, Oracle and Android device manufacturing companies, Apple will also be interested in knowing the court decision over this issue.

Getting lesser than what he deserved....Saurav Ganguly

DATE : 2nd April, 2011

Ravi Shastri on air - "Dhoni finishes off in style, India lift the World Cup after 28 years. The party has started in the dressing room".

The crowd in the stadium went ballistic, the players got emotional, Sachin ran onto the field, you were jumping in joy, some of you even got emotional and shed a tear or two. Some went out on the roads to burst crackers while some drove around the city. We all were on a high. Couldn't believe that the dream had finally been fulfilled. And as we all were busy in celebrating the moment, hugging our friends and family, praising the players, one man, one man stood by the boundary rope during the presentation, watching the fireworks in the sky and thinking to himself- "Yes!! We have done it. We have done it finally! If not 2003, we did it in 2011.." The man who is known to celebrate victories in a manner never seen before, stood silently by the boundary. It was a great occasion and would have been fitting to call this man to celebrate the moment as well. We saw Anil Kumble being called into the dressing room and holding the World Cup but none of us saw pictures of this man. He just stood there silently. A spectator at the stadium said he saw this man near the presentation stage after the presentation walking around and feeling good about the win. Sourav Ganguly (DaDa) finally finished a man fulfilled! A man who was proud of the win and proud of the way his boys fought out tough times! He deserved some credit too, didn't he? He deserved a call to the dressing room, didn't he? He deserved a mention from the big names, didn't he? He deserved to be remembered, didn't he? He deserved to be said 2 magic words- "Thank You", didn't he? Well, but this is how this man has lived his life- Getting lesser than what he has deserved! And he's probably fine with that..... I don't care about who thanked him and who didn't but the very moment we won the WC, I shut my eyes and thanked this man for his contribution to the team since 2000. This man, along with Rahul Dravid deserved some credit. This is perhaps the only picture anyone has of this man on that historic night and hey, just see how ironical it is- His face and smile is not seen.. Just a little bit of him can be seen. It's a sweet picture that has its own charm. Definitely one among my favorite pictures from my most favorite day! Thanks a ton Dada! Thanks a lot!
