Facebook getting crowded with underage users

Craze of social networking sites has spread from youths to kids as young as 10 years. The social networking giant Facebook and others have a minimum age criteria of 18 years but the kids faking their age are joining such sites on a large scale.

As per an online survey, 64% of 13-year-olds are social networking; between the ages of 14 to 17, that figure jumps to 82%. Which is a prominent figures for all social networking sites which must not be ignored. Cyber-safety committee of countries like Australia and US have notified the social networking giants to take proper action to control this figure.

Facebook is the most crowded site with kids and it is kicking out 20,000 underage users per day on an average. But its not that easy to detect if the user is above 18 or he/she is faking it as theses sites don't have a mechanism to detect whether the teen is telling truth or not.

Underage teens are more immune to risk of online predators over the web as they are very vulnerable and extracting sensitive information like contact numbers and addresses is very easy from these teens.
