Twitter changed the way we communicate

Twitter, the groundbreaking microblogging site with more than 200 million users, started in March 21, 2006 is seen as a powerful tool for democracy these days. Here are the 5 ways how twitter has changed the way we communicate :

1. Made a fast flow of information faster
It's decade-old news that the internet helps information. With Twitter, it's fast on steroids when a user with big follower counts shares something. With one click, those followers share it with their own followers. And the wildfire is set ablaze making news spread faster than ever.

2. Removed the celebrity filter
It has removed the barriers between celebrities and fans eliminating the middle person who was hired and paid by celebrities to spread the updates and news.

3. Created thought leaders
Twitter's list of 100 most popular accounts is dominated almost entirely by celebrities and traditional media outlets, but nestled not terribly far below are hundreds of bloggers, podcasters and online journalists who have found a bigger audience on Twitter than they probably would have without it.

4. Strengthened the second screen
With Twitter, nobody has to watch a TV show by themselves again. The idea of watching a TV show was almost killed but with Twitter, watching a show during air time lets you have a real-time conversation with thousands of fellow fans. TV shows become events, meaning people watch them as they happen and share their views over it in their network.

5. (Over)simplified the conversation
Twitter has certainly simplified the complicated web conversationg between gropus and media. In face it is oversimplified when people just write a couple of tweets to say it all rather than writing a full post.
