The six-wheel super-fast Superbus capable of carrying 23 passengers with a top speed of 155 mph (250 kmph) and at the same time meeting the convenience and flexibility as traveling by car and the speed and comfort very similar to rail journeys.
The very important fact about the 15 meter long Superbus is that it can be driven almost anywhere just like a car as it does not need any track to travel. It comes with adjustable height, rear-wheel steering and a turning circle of about 10 meters.
This prototype of the electric vehicle recently came up on the show at the 2011 World Exhibition of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) in Dubai in the hope of attracting investment for development of a test infrastructure.
As per the manufacturers, this is the first phase where they have developed a prototype, in the next phase they will be demonstrating an industrial prototype and third phase will be of actual implementation. The project was started in 2004 and has cost around €13 million ($19 million) to date using cutting edge technology developed in Formula One racing and the aerospace industry.
Though the Superbus production model is expected to be cheaper at around €2 million ($2.9 million).
