Over 150,000 Gmail accounts reset due to a glitch

Over 150,000 Gmail accounts have reported a glitch that has led to the affected users losing their messages, attachments and Google Chat logs. Google has started probing into the matter and necessary investigations are on to find out the cause of the glitch.

As stated by the search giant, a bug was found responsible for the goof up that led to complete resetting of the user accounts. There was a welcome message heralding the users when they logged in to their accounts as if they had just made themselves a new account.

Google has warned the users through its App Status Dashboard, "Google Mail service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change."

According to Google, the glitch has affected about 0.08 percent of the Gmail user base. It added that the engineers are working for users to get their access and mails back. Google also send out a word to users saying the affected users cannot sign in to their accounts for the period which the engineers need to repair them.
