Something real innovative from Adobe

Adobe had lost its corporate image few months back when there were critics who dislike the toll the Flash Player takes on their laptops' battery life. Adobe has taken its step to regain its corporate image once again with the debut of Creative Suite 5.5.

The suite is a collection of new software that includes three iPad applications; Flash tools better at creating content that reaches devices beyond PCs; and developer tools that bring some of Adobe's strength in design tools to the Web standards world of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.

The software which was real innovative in this effort is Eazel. Costing around $5, Eazel is a finger-painting app that uses a clever multi-touch interface to eliminate menus. The software is designed with a real innovative interface bypassing the conventional menus with a five finger multi-touch interface. There are different functionality assigned for each of the fingers :
  • Thumb   :   For undo and redo
  • Index     :   Set colors
  • Middle  :  Adjust brush size,
  • Ring      :  Control opacity
  • Pinky     :  Access additional settings
With this move Adobe is surely adapting to a new order with more programming environments than personal computers and more cross-platform programming foundations than Flash. But Adobe still has plenty of challenge. We may see some more innovations in coming days from the team.
