A new computer worm named Stars is in news these days as Iran has been targeted though the damage is very slight in the initial stage. The worm is very like other executable on the system and it is likely to be mistaken.
Few months back Iranian nuclear facilities were targeted by a highly specialized computer worm called Stuxnet which was apparently designed to secretly infiltrate the centrifuge machines that refine uranium and make them spin so fast that they would break. It had destroyed around 10% of the centrifuges.
Attacks on Iranian nuclear base is not a new event. Last year, in addition to the computer worm attack, two Iranian nuclear scientists were attacked by unknown assailants with car bombs killing one of them.
As per iranian officials, the offenses like producing computer viruses and the assassination of nuclear scientists are outright criminal and illegal, aimed at preventing Iranians from implementing their peaceful nuclear rights. Without taking this event lightly, Iran Govt. are getting prepared for the worst cyber-attack possible to get shielded from any retaliation.
